Agape Baptist Church is located in Ntinda, on the outskirts of Kampala and serves a suburban population with people from many different walks of life. The worship is alive. The music is contagious. The people are genuine and the children are beautiful. And clearly, the Gospel is preached.
The church focuses on ministries for those who come and the surrounding community (Loving, Living and Laboring for the Lord), and on missions to reach Kampala, Uganda, and beyond (Growing, Giving and Going). The vision is to plant an Agape Baptist Church in every church member's village. Agape Baptist has adopted the war torn northern part of the country as a mission field.
Pastor Michael Okwakol and his wife Cossy spent many months in the U.S. for graduate studies. Michael leads the church with grace. He is also currently serving as the president of the Uganda Baptist Union.

Agape Baptist Church provides an active outreach program in partnership with Compassion International for the surrounding community. On any given Saturday, some 300 children come and lay, many of them are orphaned. They are provided with a meal, and they not only hear the Gospel, but experience love, safety and a place where people care about them.

The church also supports Agape Children's Village, located in Bukerere, 15 miles from the main Agape Campus. The village has eight house units with 87 children who are orphaned and have nowhere else to go. Usually, 12 children are housed with a foster mother. The village has a chapel under the leadership of the Associate Pastor of Agape. Agape is also developing a Kindergarten, a primary school and a camp site in the village. The school so far has the Kindergarten and six grade classes running.
There is a dire need for a hostel now to accommodate children who have reached 18 yrs, so that Agape can continue to give these children a place called home.

Michael has a vision for building a ministry center where interested Ugandans can come to be instructed, so that the message of the gospel can be spread throughout the country. This effort is called African Church Empowerment Ministries. God has been preparing Michael and Cossy for many years. They are ready to take next steps.
